This inclusive and adapted class introduces music, theater, dance /movement and visual arts. We have great assistants and have had good success with helping those with low muscle tone and non-mobile individuals experience the joy of ballet!

Ashly’s Melody of Hope Music Camp provides a weeklong camp teaching kids how to play a ukelele or melody harp. On the last day of the camp the students will demonstrate all they learned with a performance for their families.

Please note that this is a partnership with the AWC Foundation and is being held at the DSANEO office. AWC staff are providing the instruction for the camp. The camp is being offered for free for 15 children with Down syndrome ages 8-12 . The individual needs of each student will be addressed in the registration form.

Empower Sports and the Cleveland Guardians are teaming up to offer inclusive softball at multiple parks across the greater Cleveland area this season! The program is open to players of all abilities, ages 6 and older. Each week will consist of softball skills, drills and scrimmaging. Players will be grouped into age and skill-appropriate teams to ensure players are in a safe environment with compatible peers. Our inclusive softball programs use a high-density foam core softball that is safe to our athletes while still having that realistic feel. Cornerstone of Hope offers summer grief camps for children who have experienced the death of a loved one. Guided by Christian values, Camp Cornerstone provide a supportive and understanding environment where children ages 6-12 can learn about grief and connect with peers who have faced similar losses. Campers engage in age-appropriate grief activities led by compassionate professionals and enjoy field trips, sports, games, arts and crafts, and various other interactive experiences that foster healing and hope.

Creative Living Life Steps Camp is an educational camp with a therapeutic component designed to meet the needs of children (ages 8 and up) and adults with cognitive and functional disabilities, and to provide respite for their caregivers. Nestled on 38 acres of scenic property at the Lodge and Treehouse within Creative Therapy Ranch, located at 5200 Lakes Rd., Medina, Ohio, our program offers a refreshing escape into nature.

Cleveland Sight Center (CSC) Preschool hosts a half-day summer program for preschool-age children with a visual impairment as a primary or secondary condition. All activities address pre-academics, socialization, communication, and Expanded Core Curriculum skills. Therapies are delivered through play and stimulate the development of compensatory skills, such as pre-Braille, pre-mobility, and daily living skills. For children with multiple disabilities, we utilize the Active Learning philosophy using specifically designed equipment and instruction practices. Field trips, music therapy, and other attractions will be included. The program provides snacks and drinks, and parents provide lunch. The program can serve as ESY; NEON funding is available for eligible families. Financial Assistance is made available if income-eligible and no other funding sources are obtainable.

At The Treehouse, we offer developmental play groups for kids that are facilitated by pediatric occupational and physical therapists who are trained to provide a positive play experience for all kids, regardless of ability level. Common group activities include: movement games, fine motor craft activities, social skills activities, and sensory exploration.

Our Drawing camp offers a supportive, inclusive environment where campers can explore creativity at their own pace. This camp is for children ages 4 to 6 who will not enter kindergarten in the fall. Sessions will emphasize fine motor skills needed for pre-writing, grasp, introduction to upper case letters, writing name, attention to task, turn taking, and two hand use through a variety of sensory experiences and games.

This unique outdoor camp occurs for three weeks in June. Kids age 3-15 develop social skills in a nature-based setting in the Cleveland Metroparks beautiful North Chagrin Reservation. This camp offers children an opportunity to experience a restorative natural environment while engaging in intensive exploration, games and outdoor play with peers. Campers will participate in a daily social skills lesson, explore the metroparks, and learn about nature with our staff of speech-language pathologists, graduate students, and other talented and trained staff. Spaces are limited and campers must meet certain developmental milestones in order to be eligible for registration.

A program which utilizes the Wonderfully Me curriculum, focusing on self-concept, identifying strengths, and interacting with others while using Cognitive Behavioral Skills.

Participants in this group will learn new grounding* skills through the expressive arts including dance, music, and art-making. Group members will tap into their five senses through the arts to gain this self-awareness, develop coping skills, and learn ways to navigate challenges faced as a growing youth member. Facilitated by a licensed professional counselor, participants will experience connection to self and others while exploring shared feelings, events, and circumstances. No previous arts experience necessary. Children faced with challenges including anxiety, inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, emotional dysregulation and/or difficulty connecting with others would benefit from this group.

Our signature youth program combines horses and nature with art and rhythm to explore understanding feelings and making friends. Participants will about emotions, boundaries, communication skills, transitions and more during this 8-week unmounted group.

iCan Bike is a week-long bike clinic that helps participants with disabilities master independent cycling skills on a two-wheel bike.

Music in Color Camp is a one-of-a-kind experience that combines music therapy with the joy of color, helping campers learn and engage through creative, hands-on activities! Dive into sensory integration activities with movement manipulatives and sensory items that promote sensory regulation while having fun in a musical ensemble. For more advanced musicians, we learn to play multiple instruments, including the piano, guitar, Boomwhackers, handbells, and tone chimes, by matching colors on the instrument and in music notation. Develop a love for music in a safe, structured environment that promotes growth, confidence and creativity!

An outdoor sensory camp for 5-7 year-olds. Kids will connect with nature through hands-on exploration, outdoor activities, and creative play.

Nuhop Jr. is similar to our Exploration camp, which focuses on the exploration of the outdoors. Campers will participate in a half-day hike in nearby state parks. Swimming and canoeing are two water adventures campers will have the opportunity to engage in. Campers will experience an overnight under the stars not too far from the comforts of their cabins.

Nuhop’s specialty camps are a great opportunity for campers to further work on their independence. Nicole Gerami LLC offers Preschool Play and Learn, for children ages 3 to 4 years who will be entering preschool in the fall. The focus of the program is on developing and practicing skills needed to make a smooth transition to preschool. Skills targeted include cooperative play, navigating transitions, vocabulary building, letter and number recognition, patterning, following directions, and asking and answering questions in a classroom context. The program runs for three half-days per week and is scheduled for two weeks in early August.

Summer Residential Camps are for youth and adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities and health concerns. There are two weeklong camps for youth (ages 8-22), one weeklong camp for youth and young adults (ages 15-35), and four weeklong camps for adults (ages 23 & up).

SMILE Summer Camp™ is a therapeutic day camp led by a speech-language therapist. The camp alternates weekly with the 10-16 age group and the 6-10 age group. Our parent/child camp features the experience of two professionals – music therapy and speech therapy. This pre-camp meets for only 45-min/day for one week providing opportunities to increase communication and socialization through musical interventions. Steps to Independence is the intensive therapy program at LeafBridge. This program is an evidence-based training model of increased frequency and duration of physical, occupational, and speech therapy to work on achieving meaningful, functional goals. It is a collaborative model of care that involves the therapists and the family working together on goal development, education, and carryover.

Brick Clubs are designed to help young people have fun together and develop skills such as team-work, problem solving, communication and creativity. These clubs are relaxed, structured and inclusive.

Give your child’s reading and writing skills a huge boost this summer and send them into the school year confident and ready to learn. What I provide isn’t a traditional one-size-fits all learning experience or just “tutoring”. It is a bespoke learning program specifically tailored to the needs, abilities and learning style of the child. I include my own initial findings after our first one or two meetings along with my plan of instruction. I have found that this type of focused, individual child-centered learning yields tremendous results.

Many of my students have varying degrees of dyslexia and benefit tremendously from the phonics based, science of reading approach.

The Gathering Place Summer Camp pairs children with animals at partnered sites and offers a unique therapeutic and fun-filled week. Campers will build relationships with other children impacted by cancer. Our camp is run by the staff of the Children and Family Team at The Gathering Place in order to create a unique experience and space of community, learning, and camp spirit.

Participation Note: Participants must have or have a family member who has been diagnosed with cancer.

Developed and led by an Intervention Specialist & an Occupational Therapist, this program offers your child engaging educational activities aimed at acquiring and strengthening essential skills. Time2Thrive is designed to combat “summer learning loss” and fosters continuous development for a lifetime of learning.

Our program welcomes families with children with Down syndrome as well as other disabilities. We are open to all.
