Not sure what activity to sign up for? Why not try them all? Get a taste of a variety of outdoor recreation skills and activities at the new Garfield Park Program Center! Kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, fishing, hiking and other backcountry skills are all options; however, not all are guaranteed.
Actual activities for the day are based on weather/water conditions, instructor decisions, and group preferences based on a pre-survey. Campers will utilize the adjacent shelter for periods of inclement weather as needed. Thanks to a grant from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, an all-terrain Action Trackchair is available to the first person requesting use of the chair.

This program can be easily modified to accommodate guests with a variety of disabilities for all activities. Campers are outside all day. Accessible building, bathrooms and all purpose paved trails available. Potential for hiking on natural surface trails and areas depending on interest and abilities. Paddling on inland pond with accessible launches and equipment available upon request.

Beat the summer heat while learning two new ways to have fun on the water in Garfield Park Pond, a small 2-acre pond! Whether you’re balancing on a stand up paddleboard or skimming the water by kayak, you are sure to stay cool.
Be prepared to get wet playing on-water paddling games! This camp is great for new paddlers who will enjoy the sanctuary of a small pond; no experience is necessary.
Campers will utilize the adjacent shelter and participate in paddling-related activities for periods of inclement weather as needed. Campers will have access to a building for lunch with bathrooms in close proximity.

Fly fishing is a great way to get outside and try something new, or enhance your knowledge while learning from seasoned, experienced instructors.
Cleveland Metroparks is partnering with the Cleveland Anglers to bring you this all-day fishing program. Youth will learn how to cast a fly rod and tie an artificial fly they can keep, while also learning about pond and river life. The afternoon will be spent putting these skills together as you try your hand at fly fishing in the pond. Who knows what kind of fish story you’ll leave with!
